This free Luxembourg City scavenger hunt includes landmarks, local symbols and smaller details that kids can find as you walk through the city. They can look for well-known sights such as the Grand Ducal Palace and Adolphe Bridge, along with palace guards, colourful lanterns and a traditional Luxembourgish snack.
We spent two days walking around Luxembourg City, from the Upper City down into the Grund, and found plenty of interesting details along the way. I created this two-page printable to help other families enjoy those walks while keeping kids involved in the sightseeing.
Why Use a Scavenger Hunt in Luxembourg?
Luxembourg City is easy to explore, but there are plenty of hills, stairs and historic buildings along the way. Giving kids a few specific things to find can help keep them interested while you walk between the main sights.
Many of the items on this scavenger hunt can be found around the Upper City. Kids can watch for the Golden Lady, the Grand Ducal Palace, a palace guard, Luxembourg’s red lion and one of the city’s modern trams.
The hunt continues around the Bock Casemates and along the Chemin de la Corniche, where you’ll find bridges, stone fortifications and views over the Grund. Once you walk down into the lower city, look for the small waterfall, the Melusina statue and the colourful lanterns hanging above the street.
You don’t need to follow a set route or find everything in one day. Keep the scavenger hunt with you as you explore Luxembourg City with kids and let them check off each item when they spot it.

This free Luxembourg scavenger hunt includes two printable pages with 20 things to find around the city. It combines well-known landmarks with local symbols, food and smaller details that kids might otherwise walk past.
The first page features 12 sights to check off, including the Bock Casemates, Grand Ducal Palace, Golden Lady, Adolphe Bridge and Luxembourg tram. Kids can also look for the red lion, colourful lanterns and other details as they make their way around the city.
The second page includes eight more items, such as the palace guard, Melusina statue, waterfall in the Grund and Gromperekichelcher. Kids can find each item and then draw lines to match the names with the pictures.
There’s also space for them to draw their favourite place in Luxembourg City at the end of the hunt.
Tips for Using the Luxembourg Scavenger Hunt
Print both pages before your trip and bring a pencil or marker. You can use the scavenger hunt over one or two days, and the items don’t need to be found in any particular order.
Not every family will follow the same route or visit every part of Luxembourg City, so don’t worry if your kids don’t find everything. The goal is to help them notice more of the city and stay involved while sightseeing, not to complete every square.
You’ll find many of the scavenger hunt items around Place de la Constitution, Place Guillaume II and the Grand Ducal Palace.
