My Story
Blogging & Traveling Abroad
Travel has always been part of my life, and when I became a parent, I knew I wanted to keep exploring with my kids.
Our first family trip was to Italy, and while it wasn’t perfect, it showed me that travelling with kids was possible—and worth it.
A few years later, when my kids were four and a half, I took a year off work so we could travel more. We spent eight weeks exploring Europe and loved it so much that we planned another long trip, this time to South America. That trip was cut short when the world shut down in 2020, but as soon as it was possible again, we were back to travelling.
Now, with my kids at 10 years old, we’ve visited 21 countries together. For us, it’s not about collecting stamps in a passport. It’s about really experiencing a place—seeing the big sights but also hiking, road-tripping, and finding those smaller adventures that make travel memorable.

How I Got Started Blogging
I started Take the Kids Everywhere to share our trips with family and friends, but it quickly grew into a place where I could connect with other families who wanted to travel too.
Blogging has given me a chance to share real experiences and practical advice—from packing tips and family-friendly guides to budget-saving ideas and destination inspiration.
Why I Blog
Where We’ve Been
Travel Destinations
Slovenia is small but full of variety, from hiking in the Julian Alps to wandering the streets of Ljubljana. We loved exploring Lake Bohinj and taking time to enjoy the outdoors, where everything feels close and easy to reach.

Czechia
Prague feels like stepping into a storybook, with cobblestone streets, the Charles Bridge, and the historic castle overlooking the city. We especially loved visiting the Christmas markets and stumbling across unique art and little gems tucked around the city.

Canada
Canada is home for us, and some of our favourite adventures have been here. We’ve explored Toronto, discovered the charm of Québec City, and road-tripped through the East Coast with plenty of kid-friendly stops along the way.

Peru
Peru is an incredible country, from the streets of Lima to Cusco’s markets, and especially the unforgettable ruins of Machu Picchu. It’s a destination that left us with unforgettable memories and one that we can’t wait to return to.
How We Travel
We love to mix quick weekend getaways with longer trips, always keeping things budget-friendly. While I’d love to say we’re slow travellers, our pace is usually quicker and based around the boys’ sports schedules.
Our travel style is budget-friendly, but that doesn’t mean missing out. Instead of always chasing the big-name attractions, we love finding local versions, getting outside, and exploring places that don’t always make the “top 10” lists.
Some of our favourite memories come from the smaller adventures—like stumbling on a local festival, hiking to a hidden lookout, or spending an afternoon at a quiet beach. For us, it’s less about luxury and more about meaningful experiences.
Where are we now?
Right now, we’re based in Nova Scotia and using it as a home base to explore the East Coast. While we love day trips around the province, we often find ourselves road-tripping into New Brunswick or PEI since they’re just a short drive away. We’ve discovered so many family-friendly hikes, beaches, and small towns that make for easy weekend adventures.
Longer breaks give us the chance to travel a bit further—like a spring trip to Québec City or a summer drive through the Gaspé. And whenever we can, we still plan bigger adventures abroad.
Whether close to home or across the ocean, we’re always planning our next family journey.
