Best Family Hotels in Quebec City
Quebec City has plenty of great hotels, but not all of them are ideal for families. Whether you’re looking for a hotel with extra space, a great location, or kid-friendly amenities, these are some of the best places to stay with kids.
L’Hôtel Quebec
After staying in a few different places over the years, we can easily say this is one of the best hotels in Quebec City for families. With a massive indoor play structure, a tropical-style pool, and plenty of entertainment for kids, L’Hôtel Québec feels more like a kid-focused resort than a typical hotel.
The real highlight is the indoor play areas. Kids can spend hours climbing the seven-story play structure, splashing in the water play area with dumping buckets, or swimming in the warm indoor pool. There’s also a playroom for younger kids, an arcade room for older kids, and wristbands give access to all the fun.

While we were there, face painting and balloon creations were offered during the day (it was popular though, so get there early), with nightly shows in the evenings. Even though the entertainment is in French, it didn’t stop my kids from loving the magic show.
The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a kid-friendly menu, making meals easy. And there’s also a pool-side bar serving slushies (and adult drinks) for when you need a break.
Located in Sainte-Foy, it’s close to the Aquarium du Québec and Laurier Québec shopping mall, with easy access off the highway.

Hilton Quebec
For families who want to be right in the middle of the action, the Hilton Québec is a top choice. Located just steps from Old Quebec, it’s within walking distance of major attractions, restaurants, and Place d’Youville, where you’ll find ice skating in winter.
The Hilton offers great perks for families, especially during peak travel times like summer, spring break, the holidays, and Carnaval in February. Kids get wristbands for fun surprises throughout the hotel, and there’s also an arcade and games room for when they need to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
The suites are spacious enough for families, and the heated outdoor pool is open year-round, perfect for a swim with a view, even in winter.

Hôtel Le Bonne Entente
We haven’t stayed at Hôtel Le Bonne Entente (it’s a bit beyond our usual budget), but it’s the kind of place that makes the splurge list for a reason. It’s a 5-star hotel that actually thinks about kids, not just the adults checking in.
The heated outdoor pool and hot tub are open year-round, which is genuinely impressive in a Quebec City winter. Kids have a dedicated entertainment room with video games and board games, plus a kids’ club with activities to keep them busy.
And for parents, babysitting services mean you can actually take a proper break — whether that’s a quiet dinner at the on-site restaurant or a night out without the kids.

Auberge Saint-Antoine
Located in the Old Port, Auberge Saint—Antoine is one of the most luxurious hotels in Quebec City, but it’s great for a stay with younger kids too.
Most hotels are set up for adults — the robes, the slippers, the coffee machine — and kids just tag along. Auberge Saint-Antoine flips that a little, with touches designed specifically for them. Kids get a stuffed bear at check-in, plus kid-sized robes and slippers waiting in the room — the kind of detail that makes kids feel like actual guests, not an afterthought. Family rooms are available too, so there’s plenty of space to spread out.
For parents looking for a little downtime, the hotel offers babysitting services, so you can enjoy dinner, or explore the Old Port at night by yourselves.

Hôtel Palace Royal
Located just steps from Place d’Youville and the city gates, Hôtel Palace Royal is one of the best located hotels on this list. Its central location makes it easy to explore the city without needing a car, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

We stayed here and had a good experience, though my kids weren’t too impressed with the decor in the lobby, which they thought was a little too classic and old-fashioned. While the style may not be the most kid-approved, the rooms themselves were fine, and it didn’t take anything from the stay.
The indoor pool, which is surrounded by an interior garden, has a geniunely unique feel. If you can, book a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Underground parking is available too, which is a real bonus in Old Quebec.
It’s also a fantastic pick if you’re visiting the Quebec City Christmas Market. Place D’Youville is just a block away, and the rest of the markets are an easy walk from the front door.

Delta Hotels Marriott Quebec
The Delta came recommended by a friend who stayed there one winter, and her highlight was swimming in the heated outdoor pool surrounded by snow. It was fully booked when we tried to get a room, so it’s at the top of our list for next time.
Located near the Citadel and one of the gates into Old Quebec, it’s walkable to most of the main attractions. Interconnected rooms and baby cots are available, making it a practical option whether you’re travelling with toddlers or older kids.
Tip: It books up, particularly in peak seasons. Don’t make the same mistake we did, it’s worth reserving early.

Château Frontenac

Château Frontenac is the most iconic building in Quebec City and one of the most photographed hotels in the world. Staying here is a serious splurge, which is why we haven’t done it yet — but if there’s ever a hotel worth it, this is probably the one.
Everything is walkable from the front door — the Plains of Abraham, the funicular, the Christmas Market, the Old Port. The indoor pool has views that are hard to beat, and for kids, just being inside the castle is an experience in itself.
It’s not an everyday family hotel, but as a once-in-a-while treat, it’s hard to argue with.
TKE Tip: Rooms vary significantly in size and view. It’s worth reading reviews carefully before booking to make sure you get the most out of the splurge.

Hôtel Valcartier
While it’s not in Old Quebec, Valcartier makes it on this list because it might be the most fun you have on the trip. We haven’t stayed here yet (it was fully booked when we tried to book last-minute in winter) but it’s at the top of our list.
Located 20 minutes outside the city, this resort runs year-round. In winter, there’s Bora Parc, a massive indoor waterpark with slides, a wave pool, and splash areas, as well as an outdoor snow park with tubing hills. The resort is also home to the Hôtel de Glace, a seasonal ice hotel that’s worth seeing even if you’re not staying there. In summer, it’s all about the outdoor waterpark, with waterslides, lazy rivers, and plenty of pools to splash around in.
TKE Tip: This one books up fast, especially in winter. Don’t make my mistake and book last minute – try to plan ahead.

Other Family-Friendly Hotels to Consider
Hôtel et Suites Le Dauphin Quebec
We haven’t stayed at Le Dauphin, but it was on our shortlist the first few times we visited Quebec City — mostly for the easy highway access and parking. If you’re driving and don’t want to deal with the hassle of Old Quebec parking, it makes a lot of sense.
It’s close to Méga Parc, one of the best indoor amusement parks in the city, which is worth factoring in if that’s on your itinerary. The hotel has a small indoor pool with a splash pad for younger kids, plus an outdoor playground in summer. Family rooms are available too.
It’s not the pick for walkability, but for families on a budget who are planning to explore by car, it’s a good option.
Hotel Must
We haven’t stayed at Hôtel Must, but we have stayed at two other JARO Hotels properties — L’Hôtel Québec and Hôtel Palace Royal — and both were great experiences. That track record counts for something.
The kid-friendly amenities are hard to beat for the price point. There’s an indoor amusement centre with ball games, a play area, and an arcade, plus an indoor pool with a waterslide and a splash area for younger kids. In summer, the sun terrace adds extra outdoor space.
It’s located near the airport, which makes it a practical choice if you’re flying in or out — though it’s not the pick if walkability to Old Quebec is a priority. A Boston Pizza on-site means meals are easy, which is never a bad thing with kids.

Tips for Booking Family Hotels in Quebec City
Quebec City has plenty of great hotels, but some make for a better stay with kids than others. Whether you want to be in the heart of Old Quebec or somewhere with more space and amenities, here are some things to help you find the best family-friendly hotel in Quebec City.
1. Book Early for Peak Seasons
Hotels fill up fast during summer, Carnaval (February), and the holiday season. Family-friendly spots like Valcartier and L’Hôtel Québec are especially popular. If you’re visiting during these times, booking several months ahead is worth it.
2. Location Affects More Than Just Convenience
Staying in Old Quebec means walking distance to most attractions, but hotels tend to be older, more expensive, and rooms are often smaller. Outside the city centre (in areas like Sainte-Foy or even further out), hotels are often newer, rooms are bigger, and parking is usually included. If you’re planning to visit places like Montmorency Falls or the Aquarium du Québec, basing yourself outside the core can make getting around easier too.
3. Parking in Old Quebec Is Tricky
If you’re driving, Old Quebec is not the easiest place to navigate. Street parking is limited and paid, and many hotels charge extra for it. If having a car is important, hotels outside the city centre are a much easier option.
4. Check Whether Breakfast Is Included
It’s worth checking before you book — Quebec City hotels are surprisingly inconsistent about breakfast. Some include it, some have an on-site restaurant where you can grab a meal before heading out, and some have neither. Heading out to find breakfast with tired kids first thing in the morning isn’t always the best start to the day.
5. Indoor Pools and Play Areas Matter More in Winter
I don’t know about you, but after a busy day of sightseeing, my kids always love jumping in the pool. It’s a simple way to decompress and let them have some unstructured fun after a day of doing touristy things. Hotels like L’Hôtel Québec and Hôtel Must have waterslides and play areas that go beyond a basic pool, which makes a real difference when you need to keep kids entertained without leaving the hotel.
6. Ask About Family Rooms or Interconnected Rooms
Standard rooms in Quebec City hotels (especially in Old Quebec) can be on the smaller side. If you’re travelling with more than one child, it’s worth checking whether family rooms or interconnected rooms are available before booking. A little extra space goes a long way after a full day of exploring.
7. Factor In Kid-Friendly Dining Nearby
Not all hotels have on-site dining, and not all nearby restaurants are great with kids. When booking, it’s worth doing a quick check of what’s within walking distance, especially for those early mornings and late nights when you don’t want to go far.

Our Recommendations for the Best Family Hotels in Quebec City
Quebec City is one of those destinations that works at any time of year, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with any hotel on this list. It really comes down to what matters most to your family — being in the heart of Old Quebec, having room to spread out, or keeping kids entertained without leaving the hotel.
We keep coming back to Quebec City for a lot of reasons. Partly because we love it — last winter’s trip is still one of my kids’ favourites. Partly because it falls naturally on our summer driving route, and we’ve made a habit of stopping to explore for a day or two. But also because it’s a city that genuinely has good options for families, at different price points and in different neighbourhoods.
And after several trips, that’s probably the thing that keeps us coming back more than anything else.
